2001 Chardonnay, Russian River Valley

May 15th 2004 issue

A rich elegant, creamy style, with a complex array of floral, honeysuckle, pear and melon flavors that are deftly balanced, finishing with a persistent fruit aftertaste that's deep and complex. Drink now through 2008. -J.L.

published in the Jan/Feb. 04 issue

Good Value
Summary: Tasters saw a medium yellow wine with a light green hue and aromas of ripe bananas, melon, spicy, buttery oak and pineapple. It had a distinct pineapple flavor with pleasant overtones of vanilla and spicy hazelnut. It had a medium body and a pleasant mouthfeel and finished lingering tastes of tropical fruit and clove.
Food Friendliness: A great wine for chicken, several tasters suggested spicy Thai chicken or seafood dishes.
